Lichfield Garrick Theatre Moves Panto Online- Oh Yes They Do!

Lichfield Garrick Theatre Moves Panto Online- Oh Yes They Do!

It won’t be long until we can say of 2020, “It’s Behind You!” Until then, Lichfield Garrick is coming to the rescue to make sure that panto- loving audiences don’t miss out on this special Christmas experience for all the family.

Following the Government announcement that Lichfield will remain under Tier 3 restrictions, shows for this Christmas season at the Garrick  will not be able to go ahead. Those who have booked to see the pantomime or any other show in December at the theatre will be contacted by the Box Office in the next few days to see what patrons would like to do with their ticket.

But never fear, the all new Lichfield Garrick Online Pantomime is here! Performers and staff at the theatre have been working hard to deliver an online pantomime experience to watch in the comfort of your own home, making sure that you’re still able to enjoy your favourite panto to round off the end of this crazy year – oh yes, you can!

So, sit back, relax and get your magic beans ready as you make room for another five cast members around your dinner table this Christmas. Jack and The Beanstalk: The Bite-Size Panto will be available to watch on demand from 24th December for the perfect family treat, with a cast of familiar and not-so-familiar characters. Prepare yourselves for arch-villain trickery, a giant beanstalk and a monkey named Gordon!

The theatre has been staging award-winning Christmas productions for many years and once again they have teamed up with the acclaimed Evolution Pantomimes for this year’s spectacular show. Lichfield legend Sam Rabone will be back in a dress and playing Dame Trott, as well as directing the production. You may also recognise Max Fulham, who will be playing Jack, from CBBC’s Crackerjack, and he is bringing along his hilarious friend, Gordon, the talking monkey. It’s the first time to the Lichfield Garrick for Max, as wellas for the other three members of the cast – Victoria McCabe as our heroine Jackie, Lorraine Brown as the dazzling Fairy Sugarsnap, and Tim Hudson as the incredibly evil Flesh Creep – boo!

Karen Foster, the theatre’s Chief Executive, says, “We know how much a family trip to the pantomime means to so many people and so rather than cancel Christmas, we are moving the show online, allowing the joy of panto-silliness to be an antidote to our virus-blighted year. It’s lights, cameras, action and a whole new way of working for the venue, but for a theatre at the heart of its community, we wanted to do everything we could to spread a little festive joy. We may be closed, but this show and this theatre will go on!”

Tickets for the online panto are available now
