Review! - Six The Musical at Liverpool Empire

Review! - Six The Musical at Liverpool Empire

Six The Musical arrived at Liverpool Empire last night! From Tudor Queens to Pop Princesses, the six wives of Henry VIII take to the mic to tell their tales, remixing five hundred years of historical heartbreak into a 75-minute celebration of 21st century girl power. These Queens may have green sleeves but their lipstick is rebellious red!

The cast consists of the six queens and an all female, four piece live band called The Ladies in Waiting (Musical Director / Keys - Anna Senger, Guitar - Laura Browne, Drums - Migdalia Van Der Hoven, Bass - Ashley Young)

SIX gives the wives girl power to tell their stories which they haven't had before in an X Factor-style competition in order to crown the lead singer of the band - by seeing which of Henry VIII’s wives suffered the most.

All 6 wives have different but powerful voices - Catherine of Aragon played by Chlöe Hart sings No Way, Anne Boleyn played by Jennifer Caldwell sings Don’t Lose Ur Head,  Catherine Parr played by Alana M Robinson sings I Don’t Need Your Love, Jane Seymour played by Casey Al-Shaqsy sings the ballad Heart of Stone, Anna Cleves played by Grace Melville sings Get Down and knows she won't win the "who suffered most" contest as in her solo she basically brags about how great her life is without a man to tell her what to do! Katherine Howard played by Jaina Brock-Patel is amazing singing All You Wanna Do.

The neon set design and lighting is brilliant setting the scene perfectly and the costumes are equally as stunning with each queen having a colour scheme to enable the audience to recognise each one.

Multi award-winning, with a spectacularly successful sound-track storming charts across the globe, this sell-out Tudor take-off pop-concert by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss is a must see and is on at Liverpool Empire until 16th April and then coming to a venue near you!   Book tickets here!
