Located in the centre of Abingdon-on-Thames, there’s lots going to do on the doorstep of The Crown & Thistle. A walk around the town will lead you to discovering much of its history including the major landmark of St Helen’s Church, which is over 1000 years old, and Abbey Gardens, where the towns Abbey, once the sixth largest in the country, previously stood, or learn more about the history at the town museum.

Just 20 minutes away by bus, take a day trip to university city of Oxford - explore Christchurch Cathedral, step back in time at the Museum of Natural History or wander through the grounds of the Botanical Gardens.

For those that like their history we’re just 25 minutes from Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Alternatively, for those that don’t mind travelling a little further afield, Highclere Castle, home of Downton Abbey is just a 40-minute drive down the A34.
