Race Furniture has been at the forefront of the design and manufacture of seating for public spaces since its formation by acclaimed British designer, Ernest Race. Founded in 1945, Race began furniture manufacturing under the government’s utility scheme. The company was a pioneer in the manufacture of products from recycled materials and created furniture for post-war homes from limited resources. Although proud to still manufacture the classic furniture of our founder, Ernest Race, our main business is the creation of expertly crafted seating for theatres, concert halls, opera houses, lecture halls, airports and public waiting areas. We have a long pedigree of creating projects of distinction in partnership with many of the world’s leading architects and designers. In December 2017 Race Furniture was acquired by the Ocee International Group of acclaimed furniture manufacturers. The British owned Group includes commercial furniture companies Ocee Design and Four Design. The acquisition has brought new investment to Race Furniture and its products are now available to a wider international audience.
