The Phoenix Theatre opened in 1930 and has enjoyed a succession of accomplished play. This includes the hugely popular Canterbury Tales adapted from Chaucer’s famous book which ran for 2000 performances. As well as host to award-winning musicals The Baker’s Wife by Stephen Schwarz and several successful Shakespeare plays. The Phoenix’s current record for longest running show is Blood Brothers, a musical by Willy Russell, which celebrated its 22nd anniversary in 2013.
