New online production of Birdsong to be streamed in July to Raise Money For The Royal British Legion

Sebastian Faulks’ masterpiece Birdsong will be released online in a brand new specially made production on 1 July 2020. This exclusive release marks the 104th year since the Battle of The Somme which began on 1st July 1916 and will be raising money for The Royal British Legion. With a star cast including Max Bowden, Stephen Boxer, Tom Kay, Madeleine Knight and Tim Treloar and narration by Sebastian Faulks himself, this production has been produced especially and filmed under lockdown conditions.

Adapted from Sebastian Faulks' award-winning novel by Rachel Wagstaff, the piece will be filmed by cast members in isolation in costume, with virtual sets, sound design and lighting.

The show itself, which follows a series of individuals both at home and on the Western Front during the First World War, will feature narration and an introduction by Faulks, with the full show lasting around two hours. It will be created in association with the British Legion.

It will be available from Wednesday 1 July
