Review - Aladdin @ Grand Theatre Blackpool

Review - Aladdin @ Grand Theatre Blackpool

On Friday night we were lucky to attend Aladdin @Grand Theatre Blackpool!

There is nothing quite like the joy of Christmas pantomimes - the perfect way to get the entire family into the festive mood and Aladdin did not disappoint!

When we arrived the theatre was packed full of excited children (as well as adults) and the atmosphere was electric. When it began the whole audience was immediately immersed in the tale of Aladdin, his mother Widow Twankey and his brother Wishee Washee as they embark on a magical adventure and try to defeat the evil Abanazar and his plan to become master of the world. With help of course from the Genie of The Lamp and the Spirit Of The Ring.

The hilarious BGT finalist and Blackpool Grand Panto regular Steve Royle stars as Wishee Washee and ex Emmerdale actor Tom Lister stars as the panto villain Abanazar. Steve and Tom worked brilliantly together and had the audience crying with laughter on many occasions!  The traditional adult only innuendos were in full flow entertaining both adults and children alike!

Ben Harlow plays an equally funny Widow Twankey, Mervin Noronha is Aladdin and Moo Yi Kim plays the lovely Princess Jasmine. The duet performed by Aladdin and Jasmine is  a beautiful moment! The whole cast were fabulous!

With catchy top tapping tunes throughout, amazing set designs and magical special effects the show is spellbinding.

The Barbara Jackson dancers were also choreographed brilliantly as always and the fabulous costumes for the whole cast and live band added to the overall effect.

We left the show feeling uplifted, smiling, dancing and very Christmassy! A must see show this Christmas!

Aladdin is on until 1st January 2024 Book your tickets here!!
