Jon Harvey is an award-winning comedy writer, performer and producer who you probably know,
just not in his human guise. He's bringing a newly updated version of his acclaimed 2018 Edinburgh
Fringe show to the VAULT Festival in London.
Why the update? And how do you know him? Because it was Jon who took on Theresa May in the 2017 General Election in the guise of Lord Buckethead. Since that heady moment in Maidenhead Jon has enounced his peerage, partly because he promised to abolish the Lords and he' a politician who keeps his promises, and partly because of an unpleasant battle on the planet Copyright. For that reason he instead promoted himself and respawned at the 2019 election in his new (legally watertight) alter-ego, Count Binface , challenging Boris Johnson in his constituency in Uxbridge and South Ruislip and winning a glorious 69 votes. Yes, that's right, Jon experienced an unexpected 69 with Boris in a London sports hall at 4am on Friday 13th under a full moon. The moral: expect the unexpected. Jon will tell the story of his battles against two Prime Ministers, and intellectual property law, as part of his silliest yet comedy odyssey: he's the Indiana Jones of weird pop culture, and the raider of the lost archive.
As well as his political alter-ego, Jon recently went viral with his parody of hit TV show Succession starring Boris Johnson, which gained 700,000+ hits on Twitter and was retweeted by the likes of Gary Lineker, George Osborne and the Prime Minister's sister Rachel. In January 2020 Jon also wrote and presented his debut series for BBC Radio 4, Could An Ancient Athenian Fix Britain?, and in summer 2020 he wrote a primetime political sitcom, Lobby Land , starring Charlie Higson, Yasmine Akram and Cariad Lloyd. Jon's credits include The Thick Of It, Have I Got News For You, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, The Last Leg, Time Trumpet, and Rob Newman's Total Eclipse of Descartes, for which he has won two BBC Audio Awards as producer. treasuRETROve is Jon's first foray into stand-up, and received wide praise in the national press.
